Gerber Gator Machete Jr. a Survival Podcast Review


This video is a review of the Gerber Gator Machete Jr. from Gerber Knives. If you are interested in purchasing this machete consider doing so at this link tinyurl.com I really like this tool and would like to point out a few things I have seen in other reviews of both the Gator Jr. and the larger Gator Machete in regard to some negative views of others I don't share. I am bringing these up in the notes because I never watch the reviews of others before doing my own to keep my testing and views my own. First I think the larger machete gets a lot of complaints for being to flimsy. I cant comment on that because I only have used the junior. I think the problem is not an issue with the junior because the shorter blade is naturally more rigid. Second the complaints on the saw being useless are completely unfounded as evidenced in my video. The problem is that people are comparing the saw blade to a pruning saw, such teeth would make the machete almost impossible to draw the tool from the sheathe. The pattern is typical of a cross cut saw and when used with proper sawing technique (not too much pressure) it does very well even on live white oak, a very tuff wood to cut. Third I also think a lot of the reviews of this tool compare it to tools that are 5 times the cost. This is like comparing a Ford to a Ferrari; the Ford is a great car, does a great job but is not expected to perform like a Ferrari.
